New Character Design!


Progress on Cage Of Light is slow going but it is going. I've been busy working on story and character devel.opment as well as world building and expanding the lore behind the game. I've even started working on a script for the beginning of the gameplay and a little bit of level design, though I'm sure that will invariably change as things progress.
As I develop things behind the scenes, I have artists work on concept designs. I like to let them take their time and have some creative freedom (within the limits of my vision) so they can do their best work. So today I'm happy to report we have the initial designs for our protagonist Rayvan!


Her primary weapon is her Nanoline (known in CB2077 as a monowire). I fell in love with this weapon when I was a kid and first saw Johnny Mnemonic and since then I've never seen a game that focused heavily on a weapon like this. As such Rayvan's combat mechanics will primarily involve heavy use of her Nanoline to take out enemies. Her secondary weapon is her IPG-7 handgun used for long range battles. Though small in this picture, Rayvan wears an eBCI on her head. She uses this to interface with machines and do a lot of her hacking and running. Another part of Rayvan's skills will be hacking her enemies and using this for stealth mechanics as well as traversing levels. As a runner, she will use her eBCI to unlock doors, disable traps and move past obstacles to get to places most people cannot go. It also allows her to speak with her AI partner, ORIN. (More on him in a future update)
